We are just two weeks away from the return of Churchill's School of Rock. Over a year in the making, this year's Junior Choir performance (aka. S of R 2) looks to be one of the most exciting events in recent Churchill history. The halls of the school are buzzing with anticipation, and our class has been working hard to prepare advertisements and decorations for the concert. The big event takes place On the afternoon and evening (two shows) of May 4th. This year we are rocking at Nepean High School's 800 seat auditorium. Come on out and rock. Everyone is welcome. Rock on!

Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet are our fire-bellied toads. They are called that because it looks like their bellies are on fire. Juliet is the fat one and Romeo is the moderate sized one. Both of them eat crickets. They are about 4 and a half years old. I think they enjoy watching us work. All they do is sleep, eat and swim. Ray says that if you listen when it is really quiet at night you can hear them singing. Some of us have heard it when they have stayed in our homes during the holidays. Sometimes we take them out of their tank and play with them during recess. It’s hard work to clean their cages when they get dirty, but we love having frogs in our class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. If anyone is interested in “froggie sitting” during the summer holidays just let Ray know. In the past we have had several families share them over the two month break.

301 On Ice!! - by John, Lint, and Colin
We have gone skating at Delude 3 times this year, and once on the canal.
We have gone to Delude twice for a casual skate and once for a skate-a-thon.
On the canal it was just a casual skate. Next we are going the Governor General’s house (Rideau Hall) for a tour and a normal skate today. During the canal skate we were split up into groups of fast skaters, normal skaters, and skaters who like to take their time. During our Delude skate every one would skate in one direction so nobody would hit each other. During the skate-a-thon we would see how many laps we could do in the time of 40 minutes. At this rate we will be in the Olympics for skating soon!!

Break dancing --by Nat, Med, & Al
This afternoon the Beat Boys came to Churchill school for a special presentation. They showed us dances from the 70’s , 80’s , and the 90’s. They represented the different dance moves , clothing , and music from each decade. They also did a break dancing battle. At the end they called up six students and two teachers to the stage. They taught them some dance moves and even let them do their own freestyle dance.

Swimming --by the Pony Girls
This week our class went swimming at Dovercourt for the swim to survive program.
First, we split up into six small groups. We rotated when we were finished each group. We learned about safety in the canoe, near water, and in the pool. They made us wear our clothes in the water to see what it would feel like if we actually fell in. We also learned about survival in the water.
Everyone really enjoyed swimming there. Thank you to Jen and Shelley for supervising us on the walk over and at the pool.
